Community Paramedicine Course Tackles Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders

NAEMT’s Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders course teaches students working as community paramedics to assist patients diagnosed with mental health or substance use disorders. It provides students with a more comprehensive understanding of these disorders and includes important strategies and tips for identifying risk factors for suicide. Students will learn to monitor, evaluate, manage, and educate patients with substance use disorders, as well as recognize the different care options and alternative transport destinations available for these patients. The course is approved for 6 hours of CAPCE credit.
